moms hard at work
Salary.com just released a report that calculates an appropriate salary for a stay-at-home mom, if she were to be compensated for her work. The grand total: $138,095. That is $2655 per week! A working mother's salary is calculated to be an extra $85,939 above and beyond her salary earned outside the home.
This calculation is based on the types of jobs a stay-at-home mom does, and the 52 "overtime" hours she works each week, averaging a total of a 92-hour work week inside the home. A working mom averages 9 overtime hours per week, totaling 49 "mom hours" on top of her full-time paying job.
Wow, thanks Mom! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Feminist propaganda! That's all it is. Sure they do their career stuff for 40 hours, but the stuff after that...the overtime work is basic labor...with an overtime time-and-a-half scale at about a rate of $10/hour. I don't get their figures. Sure moms do a bunch of different things, but you can't pay them as if they do all those things at the same time! Just because they may act like a psychologist and a sweeper, you can't pay them as both all the time. Propanganda!
Men, on the other hand, by the same logic, should be paid for their overtime as psychologists because we have to listen to all the jibba-jabba when we get home! All we want to do is relax, but nooooo! Jibba-Jabba this, Jibba-jabba that!

But moms ARE doing a bunch of different things at the same time... Getting dinner ready while helping with homework, doing laundry, and scheduling doctor's appointments... the list goes on and on. Moms work hard! And the point is that they're not actually being paid for any of this work, so the overtime figures may or may not be accurate, but it's nice to know that their work is at least being noticed or mentioned, if not rewarded. Jibba-jabba blah blah blah. Give your mother a big hug, Todd!

Since I'm such a fabulous cook and housekeeper - NOT!! - you might have to deduct a few dollars from the total, but then I think you should add combat pay for chaperoning school field trips! Especially the overnight one at the Old Fort!! Love ya, Mom

And how could I forget the trips to Chuck E. Cheese dodging hyper-crazed children everywhere!!! MOST definitely need overtime, and mental health days, to cover that "duty"!! I love you anyway, Mom
